Buckinghamshire County Council, Aylesbury (Reino Unido)
Organisation: Buckinghamshire County Council
Salary: £24,412 – £26,516
Hours: Full Time
Position type: Paid
Closing date: Fri 25 May 12
Salary: £24,412 – £26,516
As part of our new Place Service, you’ll have the chance to make Buckinghamshire a better place to live, work and visit. You’ll be a key member of our Sustainability Team, which works across the council to help drive a reduction in energy use and waste and promotes sustainable travel. The team is also home to behavioural and marketing experts who can help us all change to more sustainable behaviour throughout our communities.
As a Sustainability Officer you’ll help to deliver a range of internal sustainability projects and initiatives such as the regulation and monitoring or energy usage across the corporate estate and make recommendations for measures to improve energy efficiency and reduce CO2 as well as supporting wider carbon reduction initiatives. So your work will include a range of energy, travel and waste surveys, assessments, evaluations and audits. You’ll also prepare and present your results to a range of different audiences, becoming an authoritative advisor, able to offer guidance and support to colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
Your skills and experience
Proven successful experience in the field of sustainability, specifically related to energy reduction, sustainable travel, or waste is essential. You’ll also have a clear understanding of relevant regulations, and corporate and national policies on sustainability. We’d like to see previous examples of where you have achieved behavioural change, specifically in the field of sustainability. You’ll also have good data analysis and project evaluation skills, ideally experience in energy data analysis (for example Automatic Meter Reading data) and project evaluation in order to plan, assess and ensure efficiency. Some experience of supervising staff, volunteers and project teams will also be an advantage. You should be educated to NVQ 4, HND or BTEC standard, or equivalent. The role involves occasional antisocial hours, and you will need a full driving licence.
